Advisory committees advise and support Council and City staff in the delivery of specific programs and services. We choose volunteers through a formal selection process.

High school, college and university students
Join the Art Gallery Of Peterborough's Youth Volunteer Team. If you love art and enjoy working with children, you'll learn team work, child development and have an opportunity to work with professional artists in a creative space.
You'll work with children ages 6 to 12 under the direction of program instructors and Gallery staff. There are volunteer opportunities during March Break, Summer Art Camps and throughout the year for Family Days and Special Events.

Join our dynamic Youth Leadership Program and volunteer within our award-winning Summer Discovery Camps. This volunteer program includes two days of training seminars, as well as a two-week placement in either our Junior Discovery or Summer Discovery Camp programs.
The Peterborough Museum and Archives offers Student Placement and Educational Co-op positions for students from around the world: in education, museums, collections management and tourism.

Looking for a meaningful way to give back? Peterborough Public Library offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for all ages and interests.
Teen Library Ambassadors (TLA) build leadership skills, gain valuable experience, earn volunteer hours, and make a difference in the community. Apply online through the Teen Library Ambassador application form.
Friends of the Library (FOL) help support library services by sorting donated books and organizing our popular book sales. To get involved, visit the Become a Friend page on the Library website.
Visiting Library Service (VLS) Drivers deliver library materials to members of our community who are homebound or living in a care facility. These volunteers help ensure everyone can enjoy the library regardless of age, illness, or mobility. Volunteer opportunities will be posted on this page under Current Opportunities.

Leader in Training (Ages 13 to 15)
Let Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre (PSWC) inspire the leader in you! Learn appropriate leadership styles for various groups and situations in a recreational setting, with an opportunity to volunteer in PSWC camp and children's programs on successful completion.

If you're a student volunteer who successfully completed the Leadership in Training program, you may apply for paid employment opportunities in our next summer day camp session.
Peterborough has many special events that rely on community volunteers. From annual celebrations, such as Snofest in February and the Canada Day celebrations, to larger, community-wide events, the energy and talents of volunteers make our City events special.
