Visiting Library Service Driver
Position Summary:
Visiting Library Service (VLS) drivers deliver and pick up Library materials for qualified City of Peterborough residents who are homebound or living in a care facility due to age, illness or disability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be available for one to two scheduled shifts per month, typically lasting 1–1.5 hours.
- Pick up prepared materials and the delivery manifest from the Main Library and load book bags into your vehicle using the provided wagon.
- Deliver Library materials to members and care facilities on your assigned route and collect materials being returned.
- Note any messages, questions, or concerns from members or care facility staff to share with the Visiting Library Service Coordinator.
- Return collected materials and book bags to the Main Library.
Qualifications:
- Valid "G" Driver's License and access to your own vehicle.
- Basic problem-solving skills, strong communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, approachable, patient, and able to interact positively with older adults and people with disabilities.
- Able to perform some moderate to heavy lifting (bookbags, wagon)
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check Screening
