Great Canadian Bio-Blitz
The Great Canadian Bio-Blitz is a national event taking place to record nature sightings in communities across Canada. Community organizers like the Peterborough Field Naturalists will lead guided nature walks and other nature-based activities for participants during the two-week bio-blitz. The iNaturalist app will be used to record wildlife observations to improve our understanding of local biodiversity through citizen science.
- The Great Canadian Bio-Blitz will take place from September 18 to 27, 2026.
Using the iNaturalist App
- Install the iNaturalist app (available for both Apple and Android) and create an account.
- Take photos with detailed observations added to the project page via the app or posted later to your home computer.
- Learn more about how to make impactful observations by reading the iNaturalist resources and by watching the Peterborough Public Library's iNaturalist how-to video.
- Add your observations to the Peterborough project.
