Business Licences
The City of Peterborough licenses businesses in accordance with our Business Licensing By-law 14-080. All applications will be subject to inspections for any building, zoning, health and fire regulations that pertain to the specific type of business. Please note this is not the Provincial registration licence, this is for a municipal licence to operate in the City of Peterborough. You may contact Service Ontario for provincial requirements. Tree Service Providers
As required under City of Peterborough By-law 21-075, all tree service providers operating within the City of Peterborough must obtain a Licensed Tree Service Provider Licence before conducting business. All licences must be renewed annually to remain valid.

Driving Services
The City of Peterborough commenced licensing Driving Services on August 31, 2024. The information on Driving Services is provided in By-law 24-048.
Brokers are required to obtain a Brokers Licence each year if they are operating a driving service in the City of Peterborough. The brokers application requires the completion of a form, attestations and the submission of a copy of the master business licence along with payment.
The broker will register each of their drivers for a yearly Driving Services Licence by completing a form, attestations, providing a recent passport-style photograph and a copy of the driver's licence, as well as the payment of a fee.

Driving Services Renewal
Broker licences are required to be renewed annually. Please visit the City of Peterborough online portal to complete your renewal application.
Broker licences expire annually on the dates below:
- Taxi Brokers – April 30
- TNC Brokers – July 31
- Limousine Brokers – November 30
To remain in good standing and ensure continued compliance, all broker licences must be renewed prior to the applicable annual expiry date.
