We Wear Many Hats Exhibition

On display until June 14, 2026

Students from Fleming College, in collaboration with the Peterborough Museum & Archives, present We Wear Many Hats, a new temporary exhibition exploring the social and cultural significance of headwear.

Opening April 4 and on display until June 14, this exhibition examines how hats communicate identity, belonging, and social roles. Through a combination of objects, personal stories, and thoughtful design, visitors are invited to reflect on how something as familiar as a hat can carry both personal and collective meaning—while highlighting its evolving role in Peterborough’s history.

Opening Reception

Join us for the official opening on April 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., featuring remarks from the curatorial team and light refreshments.

About the Exhibition

We Wear Many Hats is the culminating project of the Museum Management and Curatorship (MMC) post-graduate program at Fleming College. Over two semesters, students collaborated on all aspects of exhibit development—from research and concept design to fabrication and installation—creating an engaging and accessible experience for visitors of all ages.

“It’s been such a great hands-on experience learning how to build an exhibit,” says MMC student Erin Ralph. “Every step of the project has been a valuable experience that I can’t wait to use in my future career. Plus, it’s lots of fun!”
