Staying Mobile
Being able to get around your community is important for staying independent and connected. In the Peterborough region, there are many ways to travel—by bus, car, ride service, bike or on foot.
Below, you’ll find a range of resources to help you choose what works best for you, including transportation services, trail maps, and accessibility information.
Staying Mobile Resources

Peterborough Transit offers a range of services to help you get around the city. This includes regular bus routes to key destinations, as well as accessible transit options and travel training to help you feel confident using the service. All buses have accessibility features such as kneeling to curb height, ramps, and designated spaces for mobility devices.
For those who are unable to use regular buses due to mobility challenges, an Accessible Van service is available. This is a door-to-door service that can be booked in advance through Peterborough Transit. Visit the Peterborough Transit web page for more information.

Ride with Me (Peterborough Transit training)
Ride With Me is a travel training program developed by Peterborough Transit to provide the tools needed for older adults to travel with confidence and independence across the Transit Network. The program includes a Tailored Route Network Information Package to capture critical information for the individual customer: how to get to and from key destinations, step-by-step directions, clear maps.
Route Network Travel Training is also provided to help familiarize older adults with route network information, schedules and guidelines as well as respond to questions/concerns and assist with planning specific trips. With the Ride With Me program, Ride-A-Long services with a Transit Travel Mentor can be scheduled to assist older adults in travelling to identified routes.
The pilot program will begin early 2022 and anyone who would like information on the Ride With Me program, or becoming a volunteer Travel Training Mentor can email Peterborough Transit at TransitAccessibleServices@peterborough.ca or call 705-745-0525 ext. 2888.
