The City of Peterborough operates three arenas, with a total of five ice pads, including the Peterborough Memorial Centre; our community's major sport and events facility.

Customer Service

For Customer Service inquiries, including payments for this location, please contact our Customer Service team, based out of Healthy Planet Arena at 911 Monaghan Rd. during regular hours, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Staff are available by phone at 705-742-0050 ext. 2400# or in person by dropping in at the Healthy Planet Arena.

Drop-box: A secure drop-box is available next to the Customer Service window to allow clients to drop off items for the facility booking team as needed when the office is closed.

The time frames in the tables below will be compulsory when forwarding ice allocation requests to the Facility Booking Office. All dates in the tables below are prior to the beginning of each season.

Public Skating

Skating Description

Family Skate

A drop-in recreational skate for parents and guardians with children aged 3 to 13 years of age. 

Public Skating

Our drop-in recreational skate is for individuals of all ages.

50+ Adult Skating

Adult Skating is a drop-in recreational skate for adults 50 years and older. 

Family Stick and Puck

A drop-in recreational skate for parents and guardians to help children aged 3 to 13 years of age practice and develop skating, stick handling and passing skills in a non-competitive environment.

Additional:

  • Hockey nets and pucks are provided.
  • Children must bring their own stick.

Pay-as-you-play Shinny Hockey

Shinny Hockey is a non-competitive, non-contact, informal drop-in hockey program.

Available in three program categories, please check the drop-in skating schedule to ensure you attend the appropriate shinny program for you. 

  • 18+ Adult co-ed
  • 18+ Adult women
  • 14+ Youth 

Additional:

  • CSA approved helmets are mandatory and full equipment is recommended for all players and goalies.
  • Goalies play for free.
  • Equipment rentals are not available.
  • Shinny is not intended for organized teams. Referees are not provided.
  • No body-checking is allowed.
  • Please keep the spirit of the game enjoyable, and remember it is only for fun.
  • This activity is not directly supervised (only youth), report any concerns to staff.

Skaters Code of Conduct

General:

  • Respect and cooperate with staff. They are there for everyone's safety.
  • Children 10 years and under must be accompanied and supervised by a guardian 14 years or older.
  • CSA Approved helmets are strongly recommended and mandatory for Pay-as-you-play Hockey Shinny.
  • All participants are required to wear skates - no footwear other than skates on the ice.
  • No participants are to enter the ice surface area until the resurfacer is off the ice and the resurfacer door is closed.
  • No food or drink on ice surface.
  • No horseplay/games/tag in any area of the facility.
  • No erratic/excessive speed skating or figure skating.
  • No balls/pucks/chairs/pylons/strollers/sticks or any other item which might interfere with the safety of any skater while on the ice surface
  • No headsets, cell phones or handheld electronic devices to be used while skating.
  • Carrying of children is not permitted on the ice surface.
  • No sitting on the boards.
  • Skate in constant flow and in the direction of all skaters.
  • Skaters are required to conduct themselves appropriately at all times - this includes no cursing or swearing.
  • Alcohol, tobacco and drugs are prohibited.
  • Approved skating aids will be permitted on the ice.

 

Wheelchairs, strollers and skating aids

  • Wheelchairs are permitted on the ice once the wheels have been cleaned.
  • Persons accompanying those in wheelchairs or ice sledges must wear skates and be skilled skaters.
  • A sledge is defined as a sled with two skate blades under the seat and a glider extending to the front. The skater uses two sticks with a prick on the end to propel themselves forward.

Those who choose not to follow the Skaters Code of Conduct will be given a warning and then repeated offence, will be asked to leave the facility.

Healthy Planet Arena

The Healthy Planet Arena features the Gardener Pad, the Sign-a-fied Pad, the media box, and a banquet facility that are available for rental. 

The centre reflects our community's rich tradition of sport, fitness and recreation – with a goal of promoting a healthier lifestyle for all. The 5,000-square-foot banquet facility and adjoining ice surfaces complement each other for the benefit of our community. It can be used for small meetings, weddings, receptions, or anniversaries as well as serving as a main location for seminars, conferences, trade shows, product shows, concerts and cultural activities.

Customer Service Office Hours: Starting on January 13, the office will be open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Kinsmen Civic Centre

The Kinsmen Civic Centre features the Mr. Lube Pad, and the Caley's Crease Pad that are available for rental.

Miskin Law Community Complex

The new community complex will include a twin-pad arena, a Peterborough Public Library branch, an indoor track, multi-purpose space, and leasable office space.

Facility hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Extended hours of operation are expected to be implemented in the spring, following the completion of facility work. The walking/running track is free to access during regular hours.

Miskin Law Community Complex Seat and Bench Fundraising Program

As part of the community fundraising campaign to support the construction of the City’s newest community complex that is being built at Lansdowne and Park streets, residents can make a donation that will be recognized with their name on a seat and/or bench in the facility.

All funds raised will be allocated in support of furniture, fixtures and equipment costs in the building.
