Waste Management Technician (Landfill) - Summer Student

Job Details
The Division is looking for a resourceful and outgoing student to assist with physically demanding tasks at the landfill site on Bensfort Road in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township. Responsibilities include grounds and building maintenance, sign maintenance, cleaning, tip-face waste inspections, and more. You will regularly interact with members of the public in the landfill drop-off area, providing guidance and support to residents, maintaining organization in the Reuse Centre, and performing additional duties as assigned.
This role involves exposure to unpleasant odors and varying weather conditions. Candidates must be prepared to work a variety of shifts, including days, afternoons, and weekends. It is a temporary full-time position from May 2026 to September 2026.
Qualifications
Interested candidates should be outgoing, approachable, and comfortable communicating with the public. They must be physically capable of performing tasks that involve lifting heavy objects and walking over uneven or rugged terrain. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are important. Steel-toed work boots are mandatory and must be supplied by the successful candidate.
Salary
$21.67/Hour
