Waste Diversion - Summer Student

Job Details

Under the direction of the Program Manager, Waste Diversion the Waste Diversion Summer Student will assist with the execution of initiatives required to support departmental programs that focus on the reduction and diversion of solid waste and organic material from disposal in the City of Peterborough’s landfill. Providing assistance to Waste Diversion Section personnel in public education and promotion to City residents and businesses pertaining to proper recycling sortation. Additional general duties, including blue box/composter sales to residents and supply management through third parties (i.e. GreenUp).

This is a temporary full-time position from May 2026 to September 2026. 

Qualifications

  • Enrolment in a College Diploma or University Degree program in Biology, Environmental Science, Geography, or a similar discipline.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word
  • Compliance with all Health and Safety and Municipal policies is required.
  • Possession of a valid Ontario driver’s license.
  • Access to reliable transportation to fulfill the essential duties of the position.

Salary

$22.09/Hour
