Job Details

The Traffic Services Assistant will assist staff in the delivery of transportation services within the City of Peterborough. You will carry out traffic/transportation data collection including manual turning movement counts, radar speed studies and the installation of Automatic Traffic Recorders. Collect and update sign inventory data using the City’s sign database application on a computer and/or iPad for field work. Assist in the layout and preparation of work orders required for the installation of street signs and pavement markings. Perform administrative office duties for both Parking and Traffic Services such as filing, data entry, scanning, photocopying, researching and report writing. Assist staff with transportation-related projects as required.

Qualifications

The candidate is interested in the field of Transportation. Preference will be given to persons registered in a post-secondary program. Must have the ability to perform the physical demands of the position, ability to work independently or as a member of a team. Must have intermediate computer skills in MS Office including Word, Excel, Access and Internet applications. Proven public relations and interpersonal communication skills. You must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and have access to reliable transportation to fulfill the duties of this position. 

This is a temporary full-time position from May 2026 to September 2026.

Salary

$22.95 per hour.
