Job Details
The Manager, Engineering Services, oversees the planning, design, and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects across the City. This role provides technical and people leadership to engineering staff and consultants, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with City standards, legislation, and best practices.
Leading multi-disciplinary teams through complex capital projects, the Manager contributes to the development of engineering standards and capital budgets while working collaboratively with internal departments, external agencies, developers, utilities, First Nations, and the public.
This role plays a key leadership function in advancing sustainable, resilient infrastructure that supports the City’s long-term growth and service objectives.
Qualifications
Education & Professional Credentials
- Professional Civil Engineer (P.Eng.), licensed and in good standing with the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO)
- Valid Ontario driver’s license
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in the planning, design, and construction of municipal infrastructure
- Demonstrated success leading large, complex capital projects from design through construction
- Experience supervising professional and technical staff and managing external consultants
- Experience working within a municipal or public sector environment is considered an asset
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of municipal engineering standards, construction practices, materials, and methodologies
- Sound understanding of applicable legislation and regulations, including environmental, municipal, and health and safety requirements
- Ability to review, approve, and certify engineering designs and calculations, including the application of a professional seal as required
- Proficiency with CAD applications and Microsoft Office Suite
Leadership & Interpersonal Skills
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide, mentor, and support multidisciplinary teams
- Strong communication skills, with experience preparing reports and presenting to senior leadership, Council, and external stakeholders
- Ability to build effective working relationships with internal departments, external agencies, utilities, developers, First Nations, and the public
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
Salary
$145,121 – $158,627
