IT Applications - Summer Student

Job Details

The IT Applications Summer Student will support the Business Systems Analysts, the IT team and application users, including: provide application support and assistance with application setup, configuration, and problem resolution; collaborate with internal staff and external suppliers & vendors to monitor the performance of information technology resources; make recommendations to maximize efficiency and performance, and identify opportunities to automate existing processes; and maintain detailed project, configuration, and user documentation. This role is expected to participate in special assignments or projects pertaining to software applications or integrations.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in Post Secondary education program in Information Technology or other related discipline and returning to full-time studies in Sept 2026
  • Demonstrated knowledge / interest in the area of end-user software solutions.  
  • Experience with networking tools and protocols, knowledge of requirements analysis and Java programming language, JavaScript and databases (i.e. Microsoft SQL, MySQL, etc.), and/or experience with Microsoft SharePoint, PowerAutomate, PowerBI/SSRS and InfoPath, PowerShell scripting systems would be preferred.
  • Able to perform the duties of the position with minimal guidance and supervision
  • Must be self-motivated and possess effective customer service and communication skills.
  • Excellent safety record and attitude
  • Able and available to work 8-hr shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime (where required) from May 1 to Labour Day
  • Possess a valid Ontario G Class license in good standing and reliable vehicle to travel to various sites within the City

Hourly Wage

$17.60 per hour
