Job Details

Organize, develop, and supervise the educational and interpretive activities of the gallery, studio, and outreach programs and perform related administrative duties. Work with the Curator and Director to ensure programs are effective and exhibition driven, creating access to the Art Gallery of Peterborough’s Permanent Collection, changing, and incoming touring exhibitions for all age groups and the diverse communities of Peterborough. Develop public awareness, understanding, and enjoyment of the arts through on and off-site programs and digital initiatives for Gallery visitors and distanced learners. Communicate the Art Gallery of Peterborough’s programs to the local, regional and national community. 

Qualifications

Requires a four year degree in Art Education and/or Art History or equivalent and a minimum of two years’ experience in a related institution with a thorough knowledge of current educational practices. Must be conversant with both Canadian historical and contemporary art. Responsible for maintaining contact with educational developments particularly in the areas of contemporary art and historical art of regional, national and international scope. Requires an advanced level of word processing, intermediate level of spreadsheet and database software applications. Must possess excellent communications, administrative, research, writing, and organizational skills, be able to take initiatives in proposing and implementing programmes and policies.

Must have a good understanding of policies and procedures within the contemporary art and art education.

Classification for this position with CUPE L126: 9

$40.17/Hour
