Event Services Monitor

Position Description:

The Event Services Monitor will provide assistance to the Peterborough Memorial Centre Event Services Supervisor and Tourism staff to coordinate the requirements involved with events held at the Peterborough Memorial Centre and at various Recreation and Parks/City of Peterborough facilities.
 
Responsibilities include:

  • Attend community events within the City of Peterborough, representing the City and promoting local tourism.
  • Assist with deployment of staff on event days: issue resources to staff and ensure the return of the inventory post-event.
  • Circulate during events to ensure Event Services staff are in position, have appropriate breaks, reporting any incidents back to the Supervisor.
  • Participate in all training and debriefing sessions for Event Services staff.
  • Actively approach attendees and offer information and support during events.
  • Assist with crowd control during events.
  • Collaborate with event staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain a welcoming and professional presence throughout events.


Qualifications and Other Pertinent Details:

Knowledge and experience normally associated with a High School diploma or equivalent in addition to one year experience in event services.  The successful applicant will have good customer service skills with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle conflict in addition to the ability to work in a team environment and independently.  Candidates must have experience and knowledge of proper work procedures including familiarity with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and must have current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.

Successful candidates will be required to provide, at their own expense, a current criminal reference check as a condition of employment offer. This position will work a variety of different shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to a maximum of 24 hours/week.  Shift start and end times will vary and could include end times of 2:00 AM.  This position is seasonal in nature and hours will fluctuate throughout the year.


Classification for this position: Non-Union Job Class 
Hourly Rate: $21.00
