Outdoor Movie Night & Canada Day 2025 – Roll, Stroll and Celebrate!
The City of Peterborough’s Cultural Services Division is seeking enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to help bring this year’s Canada Day celebration and Outdoor Movie Night to life! From a free family-friendly movie under the stars on June 30 to a full day starting with community parade, performances, arts and crafts and food and beverage vendors to family-friendly activities at Millennium Park on July 1: we need your help to make it all happen!
Outdoor Movie Night – Monday, June 30 at Dusk (movie start time approx. 9 p.m.)
Volunteers to arrive at 8 p.m. and check in at the Cultural Services tent inside the Square.
Location: Quaker Foods City Square, 215 Charlotte St.
Roles:
- Set-up Crew (assist with seating and signage)
- Greeters & Info Ambassadors (welcome attendees, hand out free popcorn, crowd control)
- Clean-up Crew (light post-event tidying)
Canada Day – Tuesday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Volunteers to arrive at 9 a.m. to either City Hall or Millenium Park, depending on assigned role.
Locations: City Hall at 500 George St. N. and Millennium Park

Requirements:
Minimum age: 16 (under 18s require guardian consent)
Friendly, dependable, and available for at least one shift per event
Attend a mandatory volunteer orientation session (dates TBA)

Advisory committees advise and support Council and City staff in the delivery of specific programs and services. We choose volunteers through a formal selection process.

High school, college and university students
Join the Art Gallery Of Peterborough's Youth Volunteer Team. If you love art and enjoy working with children, you'll learn team work, child development and have an opportunity to work with professional artists in a creative space.
You'll work with children ages 6 to 12 under the direction of program instructors and Gallery staff. There are volunteer opportunities during March Break, Summer Art Camps and throughout the year for Family Days and Special Events.

Join our dynamic Youth Leadership Program and volunteer within our award-winning Summer Discovery Camps. This volunteer program includes two days of training seminars, as well as a two-week placement in either our Junior Discovery or Summer Discovery Camp programs.
The Peterborough Museum and Archives offers Student Placement and Educational Co-op positions for students from around the world: in education, museums, collections management and tourism.

Sport and Wellness Centre
Leader in Training (Ages 13 to 15)
Let Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre (PSWC) inspire the leader in you! Learn appropriate leadership styles for various groups and situations in a recreational setting, with an opportunity to volunteer in PSWC camp and children's programs on successful completion.

If you're a student volunteer who successfully completed the Leadership in Training program, you may apply for paid employment opportunities in our next summer day camp session.
Special Events
Peterborough has many special events that rely on community volunteers. From annual celebrations, such as Snofest in February and the Canada Day celebrations, to larger, community-wide events, the energy and talents of volunteers make our City events special.
