Recreation Assistant, Community Volunteers (up to 2 years)

Job Details

As a member of this Recreation and Parks Services Division, the Recreation Assistant, Community Volunteers, is responsible for successfully implementing the Corporate Volunteer Policy for community programming and special events. This includes developing and promoting opportunities while overseeing volunteers. The position supports existing community volunteer programs such as the Neighbourhood Rink 
Program and the Community Garden Program. Additionally, focus will be on developing and expanding volunteer opportunities within recreation programming and special events, providing training, scheduling, and oversight to ensure that volunteers have a meaningful experience and that opportunities are effectively integrated within the Recreation and Parks Services Division according to corporate policy.

Qualifications

Requires a Recreation and Leisure Services diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of 1 (one) year of experience leading a team, community program, or community events is required. Proficient in the use of computers including basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel); knowledge of database and website software (SharePoint) is considered an asset. Requires excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to customer service.

The successful candidate will be expected to work alternative hours to facilitate evening training sessions and support community programming and events. Access to reliable transportation is required. 

Preference will be given to candidates with current First Aid//CPR/AED Certification

Hourly Rate

$31.19-$33.14
