Permit Coordinator (up to 12 months)

Job Details
Provide communication support to the Plans Examiners by screening voice mail, e-mail and written technical communications and prioritizing the required responses. Respond on behalf of the Plans Examiners, either directly or following consultation with the Plans Examiner. Receive new residential and industrial/commercial/institutional building permit applications and submissions and review documentation for completion. Provide administrative technical support to the Plans Examiners by conducting research and contacting applicants or professional designers for additional, missing or unclear technical content, as directed by the Plans Examiner. Provide oversight and management of the ICI Permit Drawing Archive by developing and maintaining a log of all archived plans, including preparing the plans for archive. Prepare and oversee a sign-out procedure. Provide back-up technical reception services for the Permit Technicians by answering permit application questions, providing permit fee information and directing clients to appropriate documentation.
Qualifications
Requires the completion of a college diploma in office admin, legal administration or related along with up to one year related experience, including knowledge of construction practice, the Ontario Building Code and the application process. Familiarity with the Ontario Fire Code and local development policies would be considered an asset. This position requires excellent communication skills with a focus on quality customer service. Requires the ability to work well with a variety of different staff in a team environment. Attention to detail, follow up and research skills are also required in addition to strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
