The City of Peterborough is hiring four (4) Municipal Law Enforcement Officers I –
Parking to join our dedicated Municipal Law Enforcement Services team! If you enjoy 
being out in the community, have strong attention to detail, and want to help keep our 
city safe, accessible, and welcoming for everyone—this could be an opportunity for you.


As a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer I – Parking, you’ll play a vital role in promoting 
compliance with local parking regulations. This includes patrolling assigned areas, 
issuing penalties, and engaging with members of the public in a respectful and 
professional manner. Your work helps keep traffic flowing, emergency routes clear, and 
ensures fair access to parking across the city.

Qualifications 

Education & Certifications
• High school diploma (or equivalent) required.
• Certificate or diploma in Law Enforcement Foundations, Police Foundations, or a 
related field is considered an asset.
• Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license required.
• Certification as a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer (Parking and/or General) or 
willingness to obtain.
Experience
• 9 months to 1 year of experience in customer service, municipal operations, or 
enforcement preferred.


Knowledge & Skills
• Familiarity with municipal by-laws and relevant provincial legislation, including the 
Municipal Act, Provincial Offences Act, and Evidence Act.
• Comfortable using handheld ticketing devices, data entry systems, and Microsoft 
Office applications.
• Strong interpersonal communication and conflict de-escalation skills.
• Ability to interpret legal documents and explain by-law information clearly to the 
public.
• Self-motivated with strong time management skills and the ability to work 
independently in the field.

Salary

$52,070
