Junior Leader, School Age Program

Position Description
Plan and implement a weekly curriculum of stimulating educational age-appropriate activities for school age children enrolled in a City of Peterborough School Age Program. Provide a physically safe and emotionally supportive environment showing sensitivity to the individual needs of the children in all aspects of development.
Qualifications and Other Pertinent Details
Requires an individual who has a two-year college diploma in Early Childhood Education and is a registered member of the College of Early childhood Education or has equivalent education including a diploma in Social Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker or Recreation and Leisure or a degree in Education. Requires a combination of three to six months’ previous and on-the-job experience working with children and youth. Must have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of child development.
The successful individual will have well developed organizational and leadership skills. They must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with children, parents and colleagues and have the ability to handle emergencies in a calm and professional manner. The successful candidate must also be able to work independently with minimal supervision and be a team player committed to quality
customer service. Must have Standard First Aid and Infant/Child CPR certifications, a clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check as well as updated immunization records.

$28.60-$30.55
