Fire Alarm Room Operator

Job Details
In a professional, tactful, pleasant and timely manner, you will respond to all incoming telephone calls to Emergency Response System, and general service requests. You will properly direct appropriate response team(s), i.e. Police Fire, Ambulance and equipment to incident site. The Fire Alarm Room Operator monitors calls and accurately logs details through applicable computer systems as appropriate. Support is provided to Emergency personnel at the scene by supplying requested additional information and relaying requests for assistance to other services.
Qualifications
This position requires an individual who has an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (or equivalent) and has experience working in emergency services, including experience with computer assisted dispatch systems. The successful candidate will be computer literate and proficient in word processing and skilled in searching out and collecting accurate information in difficult or ambiguous circumstances. A high degree of accuracy in work is required as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Graduate of a 911 College Program or equivalent would be considered an asset.
This position works shift work.
Salary
First 12 weeks - Fire Alarm Operator (Recruit) - Salary: $57,428
Remaining 40 weeks – Fire Alarm Operator - Salary: $62,649
