Financial Control Clerk

Job Details
Liaise with division staff to ensure proper financial recording of stop payments. Transfer funds between bank accounts as required for payments to Social Services clients. Work with Social Services staff to maintain a clean and timely stale dated cheque listing.
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for bank accounts, clear transactions, investigate and report discrepancies. Prepare related journal entries. Prepare monthly Harmonized Sales Tax Government filings. Maintain internal HST code listing. Review general ledger for accurate HST code application. Prepare and post various monthly, periodic and year-end journal entries. Undertake and complete various financial and general ledger account reconciliations. Maintain and prepare payment requests for recurring transfers. Assist with the Tangible capital asset accounting process
As directed by the manager, provide backup to the Payroll Administrator, processing payroll runs and supporting payroll functions for assigned payroll groups during the Payroll Administrator’s absence and peak periods. Supporting payroll functions may include, but not limited to payroll correspondence, timesheets, compliance, changes, Records of Employment (ROEs), and reconcile reports for assigned group. May be assigned to perform these duties on a cyclical basis to support training objectives.
Qualifications
Requires completion of a three-year college diploma in accounting or finance, and up to 3 years accounting, finance or related work experience. Accuracy and consistency of data is imperative. The ability to function in a computerized environment including advanced knowledge of Excel is required. SAP experience would be considered an asset.
