Job Details

The Corporate Buyer provides purchasing support and expertise to City of Peterborough’s departmental staff for the purchase of materials, services, and construction. Issue bid solicitation documents and support compliance of the City’s Procurement by-law. Administer the City’s e-procurement software.

Qualifications

Requires a three-year college diploma in a business-related field and 5 years related experience. Completion of, or willingness to complete a professionally recognized public procurement designation (Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB), Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO), Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP), or the National Institute of Government Procurement NIGP-CPP.

Must demonstrate attention to detail, have accurate data entry skills and have advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), Acrobat Adobe and electronic bidding platforms, such as Bids & Tenders.  Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Teams preferred.

The incumbent must have advanced organizational skills, as well as the ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate a number of concurrent tasks. Must have well developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to build effective relationships within the corporation and to be able to work both collaboratively with client divisions and independently. Must have the ability to identify inconsistencies or errors in staff reports, as well as bid documents, to mitigate procurement risk. Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision and be a team player with a commitment to quality service.
