Customer Service

The customer service area at the Simcoe Street Bus Terminal is open for pass sales and inquiries during regular hours. Washrooms are available on request.

Regular routes

Peterborough Transit's regular routes run every day and all buses on regular routes are fully accessible. A transit map showing the regular routes is posted in all the transit shelters and at the Transit Terminal. Printed maps are available.  An interactive map that shows all the bus stops and shelters will be available online.

Community Bus

Everyone can use the Community Bus. It is popular with people that normally use the Accessible Van Service or find using the regular bus difficult due to mobility constraints and other accessibility needs. You can transfer between the regular route and the community bus to get where you need to go.

Holidays

You can take transit on most holidays. 

 St Patrick's Day Parade Route - March 17, 2024

George Street will be closed from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Parkhill Road to Brock Street.

There will be rolling road closures on George Street, from Brock Street to the North side of McGill StreetWhen the Rolling road closures commence at 2 p.m., there will be detours as required, outlined below. Updates have been made to detours due to the Parkhill closure and in order to avoid the anticipated congestion in the south end.

Route 2 Chemong (During the rolling road closure – 2 p.m. start) 

  • Southbound from Terminal – Simcoe to Aylmer to Romaine to Park streets, right on King George to regular route 
  • Northbound from Lansdowne at Borden –Regular route to Park, left on Park to Romaine to Aylmer to Simcoe

Route 4 Weller (During the rolling road closure – 2 p.m. start) 

During the rolling road closure, Route 4 Westbound will follow regular route to terminal only. The Route 4 Eastbound will travel to the bus stop at the Simcoe at Water streets. Customers will need to walk east to catch the bus at the Simcoe and Water bus stop.  

Route 6 Sherbrooke (Southbound from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Northbound during rolling road closure, 2 p.m. start

  • Southbound from Trent – Regular route on George to Barnardo, right on Barnardo Avenue, left on Wolsley Street, left on Chemong Road, follow route 2 to the terminal.  
  • Northbound from Terminal – Follow route #2 to Wolsley Street, right on Wolsely Street, right on Barnardo Avenue, right on George Street, left on Parkhill Road, left on Water Street to regular route 

Route 7 Lansdowne (During the rolling road closure – 2 p.m. start) 

  • Westbound – Regular route to Lock Street, left on Lock Street, right on King George Street, right on Park Street to Lansdowne Street where it returns to regular route 
  • Eastbound – Regular route to Park Street, right on Park Street, left on King George Street, left on Lock Street to Lansdowne Street to regular route 

Route 9 Parkhill (From 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.) 

  • Westbound from Trent – Regular route to Parkhill at Water, right on Water Street, left on Barnardo Avenue, left on Wolsley Street, left on Chemong Road to Reid Street, right on Parkhill Road to regular route 
  • Eastbound from Fleming – Regular route to Parkhill at Reid, left at Reid Street to Chemong Road, right on Wolsley Street, right on Barnardo Avenue, right on George Street, left on Parkhill Road to regular route 

Route 22 Blue Community Bus  

Regular route on George Street to Barnardo Avenue, right on Barnardo Avenue, left on Wolsley Street, left on Chemong Road, follow route 2 to the terminal. Stop on Simcoe at Aylmer streets for passengers. 

 

Route 23 Red Community Bus 

Until rolling road closure begins: Eastbound on McDonnel Street to Aylmer Street, turn right on Aylmer Street to Simcoe Street to George Street to continue on regular route. 

 

During the rolling road closure 2 p.m. startEastbound on McDonnel Street to Aylmer Street, turn right on Aylmer Street to Romaine Street to Park Street, to regular route. Stop on Aylmer at Simcoe for passengers.

We operate on a Sunday/Holiday service schedule for the following days:

  • Christmas Eve (service until 7:15 p.m.)

Trans-Cab Service

Trans-Cab Service is provided in areas of the City not serviced by regular bus routes. From these areas, you can take a taxi to and from the nearest Trans-Cab stop. Trans-Cab service is available on the following Routes: 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9. To find the Trans-Cab stops, use our interactive map. Turn on the Layers List (button found on top right of screen) and select Trans-Cab from the checklist. Trans-Cab is operated by Capital Taxi. 

Trans-Cab to the bus

To take Trans-Cab to get to a bus stop:

1. Make sure you are in an area that is marked as a Trans-Cab zone.

2. Dial 705-742-4242 at least an hour before you would like to be at a bus stop.

3. A taxi will pick you up and take you to the nearest Trans-Cab stop (marked on the map as TC). 

Note: The Trans-Cab fare is $3.75 which includes the taxi and bus portion of your trip. Pay the cab driver.

Trans-Cab from the bus

  1. Board a bus on a transit route serviced by Trans-Cab.
  2. Advise the bus driver you need a Trans-Cab when you deposit the regular bus fare plus the $0.75 Trans-Cab fare (total fare $3.75).
  3. The driver will give you a transfer and radio for a cab which will meet you at the Trans-Cab stop and drive you to your destination.

Snow routes

During heavy snow falls and when roads become slippery, certain routes will be modified as indicated below. Notifications will be posted on Twitter @ptbo_transit and Facebook @Peterborough Transit Service Alerts when the snow routes are being used.
Route 4 Weller 

Eastbound to Westbound avoiding the Hunter St. hill - Maria to Rogers to Hunter - the bus will hold on Rogers St. until the appropriate time point to turn left onto Hunter and resume regular route.

Route 6 Sherbrooke

Westbound avoiding the Hilliard hill - Hilliard to Marina to Water to George.

Eastbound avoiding the Hilliard hill - Water to Marina to Hilliard.

Eastbound avoiding Sherbrooke hill - Sherbrooke to Clonsilla to Charlotte to Monaghan to Sherbrooke.

Westbound avoiding Sherbrooke hill - Sherbrooke to Monaghan to Charlotte to Clonsilla to Sherbrooke.

Eastbound avoiding Spillsbury and Kawartha Heights - Fleming College Way to Brealey to Kawartha Heights to Woodglade.

Westbound avoiding Kawartha Heights and Spillsbury - Woodglade to Kawartha Heights to Brealey to Fleming College Way.

Route 8 Monaghan

Eastbound avoiding Sherbrooke hill - Monaghan to Charlotte to Clonsilla to Sherbrooke.

Westbound avoiding Sherbrooke hill - Sherbrooke to Clonsilla to Charlotte to Monaghan.

Southbound avoiding the Fairbairn hill - Towerhill to Chemong to Wolsley to Fairbairn to regular route.

Northbound avoiding the Fairbairn hill - Fairbairn to Wolsley to Chemong to Towerhill to regular route.

Route 11A Water
