Customer Service

The customer service area at the Simcoe Street Bus Terminal is open for pass sales and inquiries during regular hours. Washrooms are available on request.

Riders are encouraged to check the City’s website peterborough.ca regularly for changes that may impact travel planning. Peterborough Transit provides real-time service update on their Twitter feed @ptbo_transit. Please contact the customer service line at 705-745-0525 for transit-related questions.

Face coverings are recommended on buses, at the transit terminal, and other transit locations where physical distancing is not possible.

Regular routes

Peterborough Transit's regular routes run every day and all buses on regular routes are fully accessible. A transit map showing the regular routes is posted in all the transit shelters and at the Transit Terminal. Printed maps are available.  An interactive map that shows all the bus stops and shelters will be available online.

Community Bus

Everyone can use the Community Bus. It is popular with people that normally use the Accessible Van Service or find using the regular bus difficult due to mobility constraints and other accessibility needs. You can transfer between the regular route and the community bus to get where you need to go.

Holidays

You can take transit on most holidays. 

Holidays with Bus Service

We operate on a holiday service schedule for the following days:

  • Family Day
  • Good Friday
  • Victoria Day
  • Canada Day
  • Civic Holiday
  • Labour Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Eve (service until 7:15 p.m.)
  • Boxing Day

As of February 20, 2023 OnDemand service will operate on holidays that include transit service.

Holiday service is offered on the following routes:

Holidays without Bus Service

  • New Year's Day
  • Christmas Day

Trans-Cab Service

Trans-Cab Service is provided in areas of the City not serviced by regular bus routes. From these areas, you can take a taxi to and from the nearest Trans-Cab stop. Trans-Cab service is available on the following Routes: 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9. To find the Trans-Cab stops, use our interactive map. Turn on the Layers List (button found on top right of screen) and select Trans-Cab from the checklist.

Trans-Cab to the bus

To take Trans-Cab to get to a bus stop:

1. Make sure you are in an area that is marked as a Trans-Cab zone.

2. Dial 705-745-2424 at least an hour before you would like to be at a bus stop.

3. A taxi will pick you up and take you to the nearest Trans-Cab stop (marked on the map as TC). 

Note: the Trans-Cab fare is $3.50 which includes the taxi and bus portion of your trip. Pay the cab driver.

Trans-Cab from the bus

  1. Board a bus on a transit route serviced by Trans-Cab.
  2. Advise the bus driver you need a Trans-Cab when you deposit the regular bus fare plus the $0.75 Trans-Cab fare (total fare $3.50).
  3. The driver will give you a transfer and radio for a cab which will meet you at the Trans-Cab stop and drive you to your destination.

Expanded Trans-Cab service

Trans-Cab service has expanded to several streets west of Bensfort Road and east of Otonabee Drive.

The following streets and roads will now fall under the Trans-Cab program:

  • Maxwell Avenue
  • Barker Avenue
  • Sherin Avenue

  • St Patrick's Street
  • Finchurst Road
  • Sabatino Court

The Trans-Cab location via Route 7 will be at the shelter on Otonabee Drive at Milford Gate.

Snow routes

During heavy snow falls and when roads become slippery, certain routes will be modified as indicated below. Notifications will be posted on Twitter @ptbo_transit when the snow routes are being used.

Route 4 Weller 

Eastbound from PRHC the route will follow Medical Drive to Sherbrooke Street, then follow Clonsilla Avenue to Charlotte Street to Monaghan Road.

Eastbound and westbound will take Maria Street to Rogers Street to Douro Street to Armour Road to Hunter Street. Passengers from Hunter Street, Museum Drive and Times Square building will be picked up or dropped off at the stop at Armour Road and Hunter Street.

Route 6 Sherbrooke
Eastbound and westbound routes will be adjusted on an as-needed basis. Contact Transit Operations for details on the route changes: call 705-745-0525.
Route 8 Monaghan
Northbound and southbound will take Towerhill Road to Chemong Road to Wolsley to Fairbairn Street.
Route 9 Parkhill
Westbound will follow a route from Woodglade Boulevard to Kawartha Heights Boulevard to Brealey Drive to Lansdowne Street. Eastbound follows the same route in reverse (Lansdowne Street to Woodglade Boulevard via Brealey Drive and Kawartha Heights Boulevard).
Community Bus 22 - Blue
Modified route will take Water Street to George Street to Argyle Street to Water Street to Hilliard Street to Dutton Road.
