Holiday Season is here—and it’s the perfect time to celebrate with Us!
The holiday season is fast approaching — a time to gather, recharge, and enjoy all that our community has to offer. As the days get shorter and the weather cooler, our recreation centres, pools, and programs are the perfect place to stay active and connected.
Keep your fitness goals going with our fully equipped fitness centres, group fitness classes, and drop-in activities. Or, try something new this winter. From swimming lessons and sports leagues to creative workshops and family-friendly events, there’s something for everyone.
Take part in our special holiday programs and community events that bring friends and neighbours together. Whether you’re looking to stay active, spend quality time with loved ones, or simply make the most of the season, we’re here to help you celebrate, stay warm, and feel your best this winter!

Child & Family
Child & Family Fall programming continues - Recreational activities, programs, and events for various ages including dance, judo, arts, gym & swim, birthday parties, jiu jitsu, science, preschool, and much more. For more information and to register for these great options for your household that occur through to December, visit Children and Family Programs Wellness Centre Member discounts are available, and registration is ongoing for the full fall term - we pro-rate fees when you register with us throughout the session! PA Day Holiday Camps - Come for the fun, stay for the friends!
These day camps will keep you busy during the school holidays! We include games and activities, crafts, indoor and outdoor play, themes, a daily recreational swim, and much, much more. Children are required to bring indoor running shoes, a nut-sensitive lunch including snacks and a refillable water bottle, swim gear, as well as outdoor weather-appropriate clothing, that may depend upon the season's climate during the week. These camp dates provide daily care between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.; structured programming occurs between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Ages 4 to 11 years. Ninja Academy Judo
- New! This Fall & Winter - Specialty Ninja Academy ® Judo Classes for Competitive Athletes
- Ninja Academy Judo 12+ Shiai Competition Focus Class - This adult class will focus on Shiai Competition skills and development. Competitive leaders will bring their experience to provide adaptable strategy and judo practice.
- Ninja Academy Judo 12+ Specialized Kata-Newaza Development Class - This adult class is a specialized Kata-Newaza development clinic. Leaders will focus on Newaza strategy and techniques, and will place an emphasis on developing Kata form, for the purpose of meeting tournament and grading standards, improving broader judo form and technical skill for competition, and self-betterment and defense.
- Our successful Ninja Academy child and youth and adult programming will also continue through the fall for ages 2 and up, commencing with our extremely popular Ninja Kids classes - these classes are designed to teach physical literacy and promote long term athlete development to children while building their safety, confidence, and respect for others. Ninja Academy then continues with classes for older children and youth and teach participants the authentic Japanese philosophy and practice of Judo, the most practiced martial art in the world. Party Packages
Make your celebration stress free! The Recreation and Parks Services Division offers a variety of party packages, available to fit all age groups and interests. With these great packages, you bring the food and the decorations, and we will bring the fun! Packages are perfect for birthday parties, family events, and special occasions. A variety of packages are offered at the Peterborough Sport & Wellness Centre and skate party packages are available at Miskin Law Community Complex as well. Book your party today. Dance for Youth
- These recreational dance programs offer a wide range of opportunities for children and youth - try them all! Dance in your own groove from the start of each class to the end!
- Pre-Dance - Classes offered for children between the ages of 3 & 5 years, explore classes including Pre-Ballet, Pre-Hip Hop, and Pre-Dance Medley that includes content from all of our classes.
- Learn to Dance - Classes offered for children between the ages of 6 & 12 years, choose options like Jazz, Ballet, HipHop, and Dance Medley.
- Dance for Youth - Registration is open and ongoing throughout the fall term and new classes will start in the winter term that commences in January.
Babysitter Course
The babysitter training course is a great opportunity for youth ages 11-15 to gain knowledge and confidence in common situations that may arise while children are under the care of the babysitter. The program enables the participants to demonstrate their capabilities and maturity by completing the course under the direction of the instructor. For successful completion of the course, participants are required to attend 75% of the classes and will then be awarded a certificate. Workbook and certificates of participation are included in the cost of the program.

Aquatics and Skate
Our aquatic winter swim lessons are viewable on Monday November 17th and open for registration on Tuesday, December 9th for members and Wednesday, December 10th for the public at 7:00 a.m. Continue year-round swimming to ensure skill retention, physical fitness and water safety skills stay sharp.

Say Aloha to our Hawaii themed Fun Swim! Join us on Friday, November 28th from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. for a decorated pool deck and tropical vibes.

Skate
Pay-as-you-Play Youth Shinny returns on Tuesdays from 6:15 p.m. to 7:05 p.m. at the Miskin Law Community Complex. Remember to register online to reserve your spot!

Adult Leisure & Member Fitness
Most drop-in programs at McDonnel Street Community Centre (MSCC) cost $3.50 per visit – exact change is appreciated.
We’ve got a drop-in every weekday throughout November and most of December:
- Monday & Friday afternoon drop-in Short Mat Bowling (12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.)
- Tuesday morning drop-in Shuffleboard (9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.)
- Wednesday morning drop-in Zumba Gold (9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.) – free!
- Wednesday morning drop-in Warm Up and Weights (10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.) – free!
- Thursday afternoon drop-in Darts (12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.)
Painting Workshops
Paint along, step-by-step in our acrylic paint workshops. We’ll supply everything you need. Just register for the time that works best for you and come sling some paint with us!
The “Christmas on the Farm” painting workshop is offered on two dates: Monday, November 17 for an afternoon session (Course ID: 77542) or Monday, December 1 for an evening session (Course ID: 77543). If you’d like to try something a bit more challenging, try the multi-day, intermediate painting workshop which runs for 3 consecutive Tuesdays November 18 to December 2 where participants will paint “Festive Night Lights” (Course ID: 79369).
Registered Programs
The Adult Mixed Dart League (Course ID: 77426) has grown in popularity and continues to accept new participants. While the league concludes for the Fall season on December 1, anyone can register and jump right in – no experience required. We’ll prorate your fee to ensure you aren’t paying for any nights you didn’t play, and one of our friendly conveners will show you how to play!  
The Adult Mixed Shuffleboard League (Course ID: 79626) begins November 13 and will run for 5 weeks on Thursday evenings at MSCC. Test your precision and aim in friendly competition. Our league welcomes all skill levels. Each week, participants rotate through different teammates and competitors, so it’s a great opportunity to get social while testing your shuffleboard skills.
Register now for the Winter Dart League – Adult Mixed (Course ID: 79354). League play begins Monday, January 5 and goes through to March 9. Don’t wait, we expect many to carry over from our fall league play.
New! – Monthly Hot Lunches, and Drop-In Table Tennis at MLCC
Join us for a warm, delicious meal and even warmer company at our Monthly Hot Lunch.  Each month, we'll serve a hearty, chef-prepared lunch featuring classic favourites and seasonal specialties - made to nourish both body & soul. We'll also have cards and games available to enjoy over coffee or tea when you're done eating. Whether you come for the food, the laughter, or the friendly faces, you'll leave feeling full in every sense of the word. Spaces are limited each month, so be sure to register early! Come hungry and leave happy. 
We’ll serve up some fun at Miskin Law CC for our Drop-In Table Tennis program – no registration required. A drop-in fee of $3.50 must be paid at the customer service desk, where you’ll receive a receipt as proof of payment, which is your ticket to play. Need gear? Paddles and balls are available at the front desk for your convenience. All skill levels welcome.

Drop-in Fitness Programs (Land & Aqua):
Recreation, Parks & Cultural Services continues to offer a variety of drop-in classes for members of the Peterborough Sport & Wellness Centre. However, did you know that you don't have to be a member to participate? Anyone can choose a class to register into a class that best meets their unique needs. Types of classes include:
- HIIT & Strength Conditioning
- Yoga
- Cardio Endurance
- Combo & Gentle Aqua Fitness
- Spin Circuit & more!
Members have the perk of dropping in when it fits their schedule and can expect to enjoy fun, energizing workouts led by passionate instructors in a welcoming, no-pressure environment. It's the perfect way to stay active, try something new, and feel your best this season. In many cases, all it takes is attending four drop-in classes per month to get your money’s worth out of membership!
Holiday Drop-In Fitness Schedule
The holiday schedule will be in effect from Monday , December 22, 2025 to Sunday, January 4, 2026. During the holidays, there will be fewer classes offered as many of our instructors enjoy some well-earned time off before gearing up for the New Year, resolutioners with fitness goals, and anyone looking to reset their routine post-holiday season.
Note that drop-in fitness classes are not offered December 24, 25, 26, & 31 as well as January 1.
Stay in the Loop with Drop-In Fitness Class Updates!
We're improving how we keep you informed about changes to your favourite drop-in fitness classes!
Members can use the drop-in fitness schedules to request classes they would like to receive communications about. If you'd like to receive email updates about the classes you attend, simply:
- Write your name and email on a copy of the drop-in fitness schedule (land and/or aqua only).
- Circle the drop-in fitness classes you'd like to receive updates for.
These email updates may include:
- Class cancellations
- Room changes
- Maintenance notices
- Service disruptions
- Friendly reminders
Please note: Signing up for email updates does not reserve a spot in any class. This is purely for communication purposes.
Important: You’ll need to re-sign each season when a new schedule is released. Also, while we’ll do our best to communicate in a timely way, there may be occasions when last-minute changes happen too quickly to notify by email.

Footwear
- Indoor shoes are required throughout the building.
- Please bag outdoor shoes to help keep lockers clean.
Cleaning & Equipment Use
- Each participant is provided with a disinfectant bottle and towel to wipe down equipment and touch surfaces during their visit.
- If you’re unfamiliar with any equipment or machines, please ask staff for assistance.
- Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to staff immediately.
Lockers & Personal Belongings
- Lockers are for day-use only.
- Items left in change rooms at the end of the day will be placed in the lost and found.
Change Room Rules
- The use of cell phones or any device with a camera is strictly prohibited in change rooms.
- Participants must be at least 14 years of age to access men’s and women’s change rooms.

Membership Subsidy
Who is eligible? Our subsidized membership rates are available to eligible participants based on household income. We welcome applications from both City and County residents who meet the criteria.
Recreation Program Subsidy is now open for applications. You can apply for multiple programs at once, for one or more participants. The maximum subsidy per person is $100 or $200 per year depending on the low-income cut-off per household. Applicants are required to be residents within the City of Peterborough and must be applying for programs within the city limits of Peterborough. Peterborough Petes 2025-26 Season
Go Petes Go! The Peterborough Petes season is officially in full swing. Single tickets for all games now on sale.
Celebrating three decades since the release of her multi-platinum third album, Grammy and Juno-award winning artist Sarah McLachlan will be on tour across Canada! $1 per ticket will be donated to the non-profit Sarah McLachlan School of Music, which provides high-quality music education and mentorship free to children and youth facing barriers to access. 2026 TELUS Cup, April 20–26, 2026
Peterborough has been selected as the host community for the 2026 TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Under-18 Men’s Club Championship. The national tournament will take place at the Peterborough Memorial Centre and will feature six of the top U18 men’s teams from across the country, including the host Peterborough Minor Petes, who will make their TELUS Cup debut. Ticket prices vary and will be announced in December!

Facility Booking
Recreation and Parks Services offer a number of meeting rooms, multipurpose rooms, banquet halls, ice, floor, field and court rentals at its many facilities. For more information, rates and locations please visit our website at Facility Booking and Permitting.
Outdoor Sport:
The City permits the artificial turf fields at Fleming College, Holy Cross and Thomas A Secondary School. Please visit our online turf availability for dates and times.

The fall and winter season has already begun and runs until March 2026. There are two ice pads at Miskin Law Community Complex, Healthy Planet Arena and the Kinsmen Civic Centre. The Peterborough Memorial Centre has one ice pad.
