Youth Transit Pass Pilot Program
In September 2025 Council approved a Youth Transit Pass Program, as part the City's Transportation Master Plan. Year One of the Youth Transit Pass will be a Pilot Year with a phased rollout to youth ages 13 to 18 years old.
The Youth Transit Pass Program supports long-term transit use while improving access for young residents. Although youth aged 13–18 account for a modest portion of current ridership, early and affordable access to transit removes practical barriers to opportunity, supports youth mobility and participation, and helps ensure all young residents can fully engage in community life.
Grade 7 and 8 students will be able to apply for a pass in April 2026 and high school students in September 2026.
Students will be able to ride the bus for free:
- Monday to Friday after school
- Weekends
- Statutory holidays
- Summer vacation
- Winter Break
- March Break
