TELUS Cup Legacy Fund supports hockey in City of Peterborough

Peterborough, ON – More children will have the opportunity to participate in skating and hockey programs in the City of Peterborough through the City’s TELUS Cup Legacy Fund.

The TELUS Cup Legacy Fund provides financial assistance to help make hockey more accessible. The Legacy Fund can also provide participants with hockey equipment to help remove barriers to playing the game, with more than $7,000 worth of hockey equipment available through the fund, including helmets, protective equipment and skates.

Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements under the City’s recreation subsidy guidelines. More information about these guidelines can be found at peterborough.ca/RecSubsidy.

The TELUS Cup took place in Peterborough from April 20 to 26, 2026, bringing some of the greatest U18 men’s hockey players from across Canada to Peterborough for seven days of high-action hockey at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.

Leading up to and throughout the tournament, the organizing committee focused on creating opportunities for the community to be part of the TELUS Cup experience. Initiatives included TELUS Cup Fan Skates, participation in the Peterborough Santa Claus Parade, Parent and Tot Skates with the TELUS Cup, a TELUS Cup Ball Hockey Tournament, and the Hockey Canada Dreams Come True program. These events gave children, families and hockey fans across the community an opportunity to connect with the tournament and be part of the excitement of hosting a national championship.

With the tournament now complete, the focus has shifted to ensuring its impact continues through the TELUS Cup Legacy Fund.

Together, the hockey subsidy and equipment program will help ensure the legacy of the 2026 TELUS Cup continues in Peterborough by giving more local children the opportunity to get on the ice and experience the game.
