Routine Fire Hydrant Flow Testing Begins June 22, 2026

Peterborough, ON – Routine fire hydrant flow testing will take place in the southwest quadrant of the City from Monday, June 22, 2026, to Friday, July 24, 2026, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The testing helps assess the performance of the water distribution system in the interest of safety and water loss prevention.

Testing will take place in the following areas:

West of Park Street to the city limits
South of Sherbrooke Street to the city limits

During flow testing, some residents may notice temporary discolouration of their tap water due to disturbed sediment in the water distribution system. The water remains safe for consumption. If discoloured water is detected, run the cold water tap closest to the water source for 20 to 30 minutes, or until the water runs clear.
