Residents Encouraged to Check Voter Information Before August 12
Peterborough, ON – Eligible voters are encouraged to check their voter information before Wednesday, August 12 to ensure they are on the voters' list for the 2026 municipal election.
Residents can check, update or add their voter information online at RegisterToVoteON.ca. Information submitted by Wednesday, August 12 will be included in the municipal voters' list that the Province of Ontario provides to municipalities on Tuesday, September 1.
Residents can use RegisterToVoteON.ca to:
- confirm they are on the voters' list;
- update their name or address;
- add themselves to the voters' list; or
- add or search for a property they own or rent.
To vote in the City of Peterborough municipal election, you must:
- be a Canadian citizen;
- be at least 18 years of age on voting day; and
- reside in the City of Peterborough, own or rent property in the City, or be the spouse of an owner or tenant of property in the City.
After Tuesday, September 1, any updates or additions to the voters' list can be made at peterboroughvotes.ca.
Students living in Peterborough while attending school may vote in the Peterborough municipal election as well as in the municipality they consider their permanent home, provided they meet the eligibility requirements for each municipality.
Individuals experiencing homelessness, or who do not have a permanent home or fixed address, are also eligible to vote if they meet the voting requirements.
Voter notification cards will be mailed to eligible voters before voting begins and will include information about online and in-person voting. Residents who do not receive a voter notification card by Monday, October 5 can view their voter notification card online at peterboroughvotes.ca.
The 2026 municipal election will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026. Online voting in the City of Peterborough opens at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 5 and closes at 8 p.m. on Monday, October 26. Advance voting will take place on Wednesday, October 14 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Healthy Planet Arena, 911 Monaghan Rd.
