Public Information Sessions for Proposed Resiliency Upgrades at the Peterborough Public Library
Peterborough, ON – Emergency power backup, wheelchair charging, exterior misting stations, and e-bike charging are among the proposed resiliency upgrades for the Peterborough Public Library being put forward for feedback from residents during public information sessions on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
A study is underway to enhance the resiliency of the main library building at 345 Aylmer St. N. Input is needed to provide feedback on the proposed measures to improve the overall design. The information gathered will be used to guide the final configuration of the measures in the study.
Residents can provide feedback on the proposed resiliency measures, challenges, and opportunities at one of the following online public information sessions:
Thursday, October 29 online from noon to 1 p.m.
Thursday, October 29 online from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Both Thursday sessions will share the same information. Attendees only need to attend one of these sessions. The link to attend these sessions is available at connectptbo.ca/libraryresiliency.
Project consultants and City staff will be available during both public information sessions on October 29 to answer questions.
In recent years, Peterborough has experienced several extreme weather events that have significantly impacted the city, including the 2025 Ice Storm. Improving community facilities to be able to withstand adverse weather is integral to the well-being of residents, especially the most vulnerable in the community.
Public Survey Available
Residents can also provide feedback via a survey at connectptbo.ca/libraryresiliency. The survey is open until noon on Friday, November 13, 2026. Paper copies are available at Service Peterborough in City Hall, 500 George St. N. and at the Peterborough Public Library, 345 Aylmer St. N.
