Join the Peterborough Museum & Archives for the Roy Studio Film Gala

Peterborough, ON – Members of the media are invited to the Roy Studio Film Gala, an evening to honour the remarkable collection of historically significant films made by local photographer and filmmaker: Frederick Lewis Roy.

Presented by CIBC Private Wealth, Schiller Investment Group, the special fundraising Roy Studio Film Gala will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the Market Hall Performing Arts Centre, 140 Charlotte St.

Guests will enjoy an exclusive first look at newly restored archival films captured by local filmmaker Fred L. Roy, featuring footage documenting life, people, and landmarks in Peterborough and the surrounding region from the 1920s through the 1940s. The evening will also highlight the remarkable project that preserved these historically significant films after they sustained water damage during Peterborough's 2004 flood.

Spokespeople from the Peterborough Museum & Archives, as well as Bo Pickett, the Master of Arts student, Toronto Metropolitan University, who played an instrumental role in the preservation project, will be available for interviews beginning at 6:30 p.m. Best times to capture photos and video are between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., and during the intermission at 8:20 p.m.
