ITT-02-25 Pavement Preservation – Micro Surfacing of Hunter Street East, West Side of Hunter Street Bridge over Otonabee River to Museum Drive
Special statement Update:
Nightly Micro-surfacing Operations Set to Begin on Hunter Street from Queen Street to Museum Drive
Overnight micro-surfacing work is scheduled to occur on Hunter Street between Queen Street and Museum Drive from July 31, 2025 to August 15, 2025, weather permitting. Work is currently not proposed to be conducted during weekends and holidays. Night work operations are anticipated to take place for a total of four to six nights.
The decision to conduct work at night aims to minimize disruptions to businesses, pedestrians and traffic in the area.
Parking restrictions will be enforced during construction hours, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. "No Parking” signage will be posted accordingly.
Vehicles parked in prohibited locations that interfere with the work being done during construction hours will be subject to enforcement actions, which may include the issuance of a penalty notice, towing and impoundment of the vehicle, or a combination of these measures.
Individuals whose vehicles are towed or impounded can call the City of Peterborough Municipal Law Enforcement and Security Services Division at 705-707-3969 on the following business day for information on the towing provider and impound yard location.
Scope of work:
Includes the installation/adjustments of select frames, covers and grates, minor curb removal, curb re-installations, application of emulsified asphalt tack coat, installation of micro surface asphalt treatment and the application of pavement markings on Hunter Street East from the west side of the Hunter Street bridge over Otonabee River to Museum Drive.
Please note, this project is not a full reconstruction and upgrades may not address all drainage issues or correct existing grading deficiencies.
Lane Reductions and Traffic Impacts:
To facilitate the work on Hunter Street East a combination of parking restrictions, lane shifts, flagging operations and lane closures with posted detours will be implemented during various phases of the work. Micro surfacing operations will be performed during the night to reduce impacts to business and increase overall site safety. As a result, it is expected that local traffic may experience delays within the construction limits.
