City Officially Welcomes Toronto Airways to Peterborough Regional Airport
Peterborough, ON – Toronto Airways was officially welcomed to Peterborough Regional Airport on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, during an event recognizing the company’s investment at the Airport and the establishment of its flight training operation.
Toronto Airways began operating from Peterborough Regional Airport in May 2026. Mayor Jeff Leal joined representatives from Toronto Airways to celebrate the company’s new flight training centre with remarks and a tour of the facility.
The City first announced Canadian Flight Academy, owned by Toronto Airways, as a new tenant at Peterborough Regional Airport in February 2025. At that time, the operation was projected to create approximately 50 direct jobs and contribute an estimated $20 million in gross domestic product to the local economy.
“We are pleased to officially welcome Toronto Airways to Peterborough Regional Airport and celebrate this investment in our community,” said Mayor Jeff Leal. “Their presence strengthens the Airport’s position as a centre for aviation employment, training and economic development, while creating new opportunities for students and future aviation professionals.”
Toronto Airways has provided flight training in Ontario since 1963. Its Peterborough facility is home to the Canadian Integrated Airline Transport Pilot Licence program delivered in partnership with Centennial College, with ground, simulator and aircraft training provided onsite. The Peterborough operation is supported by a modern 16-aircraft fleet and an onsite Aircraft Maintenance Organization.
