City of Peterborough Celebrates Recreation and Parks Month
Peterborough, ON – Celebrate Recreation and Parks Month with free drop-in programs, activities and community events in parks and facilities across the City of Peterborough.
June is recognized as Recreation and Parks Month (JRPM) in municipalities across Ontario as a way of promoting the benefits of being active and recognizing the contribution that recreation and parks make to quality of life.
“Access to parks, spaces and recreation helps foster personal health, strong communities, and social inclusion,” said Mayor Jeff Leal. “Recreation and Parks Month is about celebrating Peterborough’s outstanding parks and recreation services and raises awareness for the role they play as a pathway to individual, community, and environmental well-being. I encourage everyone to get active, try something new and enjoy some of the best programs our city offers.”
For JRPM 2026, the City’s Recreation, Parks and Cultural Services division is offering free activities and events at various locations across the city. Designed for residents of all ages and abilities, programs include drop-in sports, swimming and programs geared for adults which include darts, shuffleboard and workshops.
A full list of activities offered during JRPM 2026 can be found at peterborough.ca/JRPM2026.
