Celebration of the Bobby Allan Legacy Bowl in Knights of Columbus Park
Peterborough, ON – An event to celebrate the completion of the Bobby Allan Legacy Bowl in Knights of Columbus Park, 5 Park St. N., will be held on Thursday, November 5 at 1 p.m.
Upgrades to the Bobby Allan Legacy Bowl were included as part of several improvements to Knights of Columbus Park. Construction began in October 2025. City Council approved changing the name of the former Legacy Bowl to the Bobby Allan Legacy Bowl to recognize the contributions Peterborough resident Bobby Allan has made to lacrosse as both a coach and a player.
Bobby Allan is widely recognized as one of the finest lacrosse players in Canada. His accomplishments include playing on four Mann Cup championship teams, coaching the Peterborough Lakers to a Mann Cup Championship in 1973 and the Canadian National Field Lacrosse Team to a world championship in 1978. He has been inducted in the Peterborough and District Sports Hall of Fame, the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame and was the first lacrosse player inducted into the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame.
The celebration will include remarks from officials and an opportunity for residents to explore some of the other new features in Knights of Columbus Park, including an enhanced playground, leash free dog park and an accessible walking trail connecting all park amenities.
The Peterborough and District Sports Hall of Fame and Peterborough Lakers Alumni are hosting a reception at the Peterborough and District Sports Hall of Fame, 151 Lansdowne St. W., following the celebration at Knights of Columbus Park.
