Celebrating Pride Season in June 2026
Mayor Jeff Leal has issued the following statement recognizing Pride Month 2026:
“During Pride Month, the City of Peterborough recognizes the people, families, advocates, and community members whose experiences, support, and contributions continue to shape a more inclusive, respectful, and welcoming city. Pride is a time to celebrate 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, champion inclusion, and acknowledge the ongoing work toward achieving equality for all.
"It is also an opportunity to reflect on the importance of ensuring that everyone feels safe, valued, and supported. While progress continues to be made, many individuals within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, including those with intersectional identities, continue to face discrimination that negatively impacts their daily lives and harms their well-being. A community where everyone feels respected and included depends on ongoing and collective efforts to eliminate systemic barriers and build environments where everyone can be appreciated for their unique identities and thrive as they are.
"As Peterborough residents come together throughout Pride Month and Pride Season to celebrate, raise awareness, and support one another, we are reminded of the importance of listening, learning, and continuing to advance, inclusion, and equality for all.”
