Sports fields and baseball diamonds temporarily closed due to wet conditions
Peterborough, ON - Due to recent rainfall that started on May 21, 2025, City of Peterborough natural sports fields and baseball diamonds are extremely wet. To avoid damage, all sports and recreational users are asked to stay off City natural sport fields and diamonds until further notice.
With rainy conditions expected to continue Friday and through the weekend, all natural sport field and baseball diamond facilities will be closed from 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 22 and are expected to remain closed until 4 p.m. on Monday, May 26. City staff will assess the facilities on Sunday morning pending the rainfall on Saturday. If conditions allow for earlier reopening, scheduled user groups will be contacted.
Damaged turf and divots can create safety concerns for players. If fields require repairs, their reopening could be delayed or they may have to be taken out of play while work is completed, which would negatively impact field time for users.
