Social Services Mail Pickup During Potential Canada Post Service Disruption

Peterborough, ON – In the event of a Canada Post service disruption next week, Social Services clients can pick up cheques, letters and paper statements at the Social Services office, 178 Charlotte St., during office hours Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Canada Post mail delivery may be suspended beginning May 22, 2025 due to a potential labour dispute.

Social Services clients who receive payments by cheque should speak with their case manager about Direct Bank Deposit or reloadable payment cards to prevent a delay in assistance. Staff will notify those who receive cheques when their payments will be available for pick-up.

People are required to show identification when picking up cheques, statements, or letters at Social Services.

Those receiving paper letters and statements can contact Social Services to learn more about MyBenefits, an online portal that helps users access file information.
