Road closures in place for St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday, March 15, 2026
Peterborough, ON - The St. Patrick’s Day Parade, organized by the Peterborough St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, will travel down George Street this Sunday, March 15, 2026 starting at 2 p.m. Road closures, on-street parking restrictions and Transit detours will be in place starting at 11:30 a.m. to support staging of floats and the procession.
The following road closures will be in place starting at 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.:
- Antrim Street between Aylmer Street and Water Street
- Edinburgh Street between Aylmer Street and Water Street
- Dublin Street between Aylmer Street and Water Street
- London Street between Aylmer Street and Water Street
- McDonnel Street between Aylmer Street and Water Street
- Murray Street between Aylmer Street and Water Street
- George Street from Parkhill Road West (south side of intersection) to Brock Street
- Aylmer Street from Romaine Street to Lansdowne Street West (north side of intersection)
- Princess Street from Park Street to George Street
- Prince Street from Park Street to George Street
The parade will travel south on George Street beginning at McDonnel Street starting at 2 p.m. A rolling road closure will be in place along George Street from Brock Street to the north side of Lansdowne Street during the parade. All road closures are expected to be over by 4 p.m.
Parking
No Parking signs will be posted along streets in the parade area in advance of the road closures. Residents and visitors are encouraged to park in the following downtown locations:
- King Street Parkade at 202 King St.
- Simcoe Street parking garage at 190 Simcoe St.
- Chambers Lot at 184 Hunter St.
- Reid Lot at 350 Reid St.
- Gas Lot at 70 Simcoe St.
- Del Crary Lot at 100 George St. N.
- Downie Lot at 336 Downie St.
The City reminds residents and visitors to follow all on-street parking regulations that may be in place on other downtown roads, including calendar parking where applicable. Ensure fire hydrants and driveways are not blocked.
Vehicles parked in restricted areas that have not been removed by 10:30 a.m. will be ticketed and subject to tow and impound at the vehicle owner’s expense. Individuals whose vehicles are towed or impounded can call the City of Peterborough Municipal Law Enforcement and Security Services Division at 705-707-3969 on the following business day for information on the towing provider and impound yard location.
Peterborough Transit will have detours in place during the closure period. During the rolling road closure starting at about 1:30 p.m., Route 2 Chemong, Route 4 Weller, and Eastbound Route 6 Sherbrooke will follow detour routes. Starting at 11:30 a.m., Westbound Route 6 Sherbrooke, Route 9 Parkhill, Community Bus 22 (Blue) and Community Bus 23 (Red) will be on detours as the section of George Street between Parkhill Road and Brock Street will be closed.
