Reminder: Social Services Cheque and Vendor Pickup During Canada Post Strike

Peterborough, ON - Social Services recipients who receive payments by cheque are encouraged to speak with their case manager about Direct Bank Deposit or reloadable payment cards to prevent a delay in assistance for November payments due to the Canada Post labour disruption.

The ongoing Canada Post strike means cheques will not be mailed to recipients.

Social Services recipients can pick up cheques, letters and paper statements at the Social Services office, 178 Charlotte St., during office hours, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Recipients who receive paper letters and statements can also sign up for MyBenefits at https://mybenefits.mcss.gov.on.ca, an online portal that helps users access file information.

Vendors and other third-party payees who receive payments by cheque are asked to contact the Social Services office to make arrangements regarding payment. Vendors who receive payment by cheque are requested to sign up for direct deposit at Social assistance third-party payees | ontario.ca to prevent a delay in payments in the future.

Identification is required when picking up a cheque, statement or letter at the Social Services office.
