National Public Works Week

Mayor Jeff Leal has issued the following statement regarding National Public Works Week, May 18-25

“I am proud to recognize and celebrate the dedicated men and women who keep our city running smoothly, safely and sustainably. The March 28 to March 30 ice storm is a reminder of the crucial role Public Works plays when an emergency happens. I would like to thank the crews who worked around the clock clearing roads and maintaining the essential infrastructure that kept Peterborough running during those critical days. These professionals are truly the unsung heroes of our community.

"This year’s National Public Works theme, "People, Purpose, Presence," is a fitting reminder of the vital role public works plays in shaping our neighborhoods and enriching our city. Whether it's responding to emergencies, improving public spaces, or building for the future, their work is at the heart of our progress.

"On behalf of the City of Peterborough I extend my deepest thanks to our Public Works team. Your commitment, resilience, and service do not go unnoticed. We are grateful for all that you do to keep our community strong.

Happy National Public Works Week!”
