National Housing Day: November 22, 2025

Mayor Jeff Leal has issued the following statement regarding National Housing Day, November 22, 2025:  

“National Housing Day is an important reminder that safe, stable, and affordable housing is the foundation from which individuals, families, and communities thrive. Here in Peterborough, we see every day how access to housing supports health, dignity and opportunity. It strengthens our neighbourhoods, supports our local economy, and ensures that people can build their lives with confidence and security. 

"Through the Mayor’s Task Force for Housing Creation, we brought together local experts, community partners and sector leaders to identify practical solutions and accelerate progress on increasing housing options in our city. Their recommendations are helping us think creatively, act decisively, and make meaningful strides toward addressing Peterborough’s housing needs. 

"As we mark this day, let us reaffirm our commitment to supporting the most vulnerable members of our community, and building a Peterborough where everyone has a place to call home.”
