National Day of Observance for COVID-19
Mayor Jeff Leal statement recognizing the National Day of Observance for COVID-19:
"March 11 is the National Day of Observance for COVID-19, providing an opportunity to reflect on the profound health, social and economic impacts of the pandemic on individuals, families and communities across Canada.
"Proclaimed in 2021 following the World Health Organization’s declaration of COVID-19 as a global pandemic on March 11, 2020, this day serves as a time to remember and honour those affected.
"In our city, we remember those who lost their lives and stand with the families who continue to grieve. We recognize the dedication and sacrifice of health care workers, first responders and essential workers who supported our community during an unprecedented time.
"As we reflect on the resilience shown throughout our community, we remain committed to learning from this experience and strengthening the care and support we extend to one another."
