Lemonade Stand Day Raises $30,000 for Riverview Park and Zoo

Peterborough, ON - The Kiwanis Club of Scott’s Plains celebrated the successful inaugural Lemonade Stand Day on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at the Riverview Park and Zoo.

The celebration brought together 33 families from the Peterborough region that hosted lemonade stands on Saturday, August 23, 2025, raising $7,000 in support of the $1.5 million Rotary Accessible Playground Project at Riverview Park and Zoo. The Kiwanis Club of Scott’s Plains contributed an additional $8,000 and the Rotary Club of Peterborough matched both donations, bringing the total funds raised to $30,000. The event also included celebration of the Kiwanis Club of Scott’s Plains’ 50th anniversary.

“We are so honoured to be the recipients of the funds raised through Lemonade Stand Day. These funds will be put towards the Rotary Accessible Playground Project, which is an exciting playground redesign project that will rethink the space ensuring that every child, regardless of ability, can experience the fun of play,” said Cathy Mitchell, Manager (CEO) and Curator, Riverview Park and Zoo.

The Rotary Accessible Playground Project is a $1.5 million investment that the Rotary Club of Peterborough is supporting with a fundraising campaign which includes a matching fund that will match every donation dollar-for-dollar, up to $125,000. The Kiwanis Club of Scott’s Plains' contribution from Lemonade Stand Day will help ensure that all visitors have accessible pathways and seating allowing them to fully participate in the joy of visiting the Riverview Park and Zoo.

“The priority was for Lemonaders to have fun and the feedback we have received about Lemonade Stand Day has been wonderful! The Lemonaders are already looking forward to next year, and so are we," said Greg McLeod, Secretary of the Kiwanis Club of Scott’s Plains.
