Keep Trees Visible for Curbside Collection
Peterborough, ON – The City of Peterborough continues curbside collection of natural Christmas trees throughout January. Due to recent snowfall, residents are reminded to ensure trees placed for collection remain visible and accessible at the curb.
Snowbanks can become compacted and heavy during cold temperatures and snow removal operations, making it difficult for crews to retrieve buried trees. Clearing snow from around trees, where conditions allow, helps ensure trees remain visible and can be safely collected.
To prepare your tree for composting:
- Remove all decorations, lights, tinsel and plastic bags.
- Place the tree at the curb in a clearly visible and accessible location.
- Keep trees out of snowbanks and away from sidewalks and roadways.
Collection takes place weather permitting and does not follow regular curbside schedules. Residents do not need to call to request pick-up.
