June is Italian Heritage Month

Mayor Jeff Leal has issued to following statement for Italian Heritage Month in June 2025:

“Italian Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the rich culture, history, and contributions of Italian Canadians to our community and our country. In Peterborough, we are proud to recognize the enduring legacy of our local Italian community, whose values of family, hard work and generosity have helped shape the social and cultural fabric of our city.

From the early immigrants who laid down roots in our neighborhoods to the generations who have enriched our city through business, the arts, cuisine, and civic life, Italian Canadians have played a vital role in building a vibrant Peterborough.

On behalf of City Council, I extend heartfelt appreciation to the Italian community for your lasting contributions. We are grateful for the traditions you uphold and the spirit of community you foster.”
