June 27 is Canadian Multiculturalism Day

Mayor Jeff Leal has issued the following statement for Canadian Multiculturalism Day, June 27, 2025 

"Canadian Multiculturalism Day is day to celebrate the rich cultural diversity that shapes our nation and our community. Multiculturalism is not just a value we uphold, but a defining part of who we are. In Peterborough, we are proud to be home to a vibrant and growing mosaic of cultures, languages, and faiths. It is through this diversity that we find a deeper understanding of one another. 

"This day is an opportunity to recognize the countless contributions of people from all backgrounds who bring unique perspectives, traditions and experiences to our shared Canadian identity. I extend my gratitude to all members of our community who help foster inclusion, respect, and mutual understanding every day.  

"Happy Canadian Multiculturalism Day!"
