Franco-Ontarian Day is September 25

Mayor Jeff Leal has issued the following statement recognizing Franco-Ontarian Day:

"Today, on Franco-Ontarian Day, we proudly recognize and celebrate the history, culture, and contributions of Ontario’s Francophone community.

"Officially designated by the Ontario government in 2010, this day marks more than 400 years of Francophone presence and influence across the province, a legacy that continues to shape our social, cultural and linguistic landscape.

"Our city is fortunate to have a Francophone population whose language, traditions, and cultural expression enrich our schools, businesses and neighbourhoods.

"This day is an opportunity to honour the Franco-Ontarian community and promote a deeper appreciation of Ontario’s cultural diversity."
