City Facilities - Freezing Rain Response - December 28, 2025

Peterborough, ON – City of Peterborough facilities that were scheduled to be open today, Sunday, December 28, 2025, will be closing early at 4 p.m. due to expected conditions from the freezing rain.

Facilities closing at 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2025 include community arenas, the Peterborough Memorial Centre, Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre, Peterborough Museum and Archives, the Art Gallery of Peterborough, Riverview Park and Zoo, and Peterborough Public Library.

Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre and Miskin Law Community Complex will reopen at 7 a.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025 for scheduled uses. Both facilities have public spaces that will be available as warming centres and to charge devices, if necessary.

Community arenas, Peterborough Memorial Centre, Riverview Park and Zoo, and the Peterborough Museum and Archives will remain closed in the morning on Monday, December 29, 2025 until conditions can be assessed. Updated opening times will be provided.

Peterborough Public Library is expected to open as scheduled at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025.

Peterborough County-City landfill on Bensfort Road is expected to be open for its regularly scheduled operating hours on Monday, from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

City Hall and Art Gallery of Peterborough are scheduled to be closed on Monday, December 29, 2025 as part of their modified holiday schedules.

Public Works has been pre-treating roads in anticipation of the freezing rain on Sunday, December 28, 2025 and will continue operations over night, as required based on conditions.
