Celebrating Pride Season in June

Mayor Jeff Leal has issued the following statement on Pride Month:

“Pride Month is a time to celebrate the diversity, resilience and contributions of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Peterborough and beyond. Our city is proud to stand in solidarity with our 2SLGBTQIA+ residents, acknowledging their invaluable impact on the social, cultural and economic fabric of our community.

"Pride Month also serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggles faced by many in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Discrimination, homophobia, and transphobia continue to affect individuals, and it's our collective responsibility to foster an environment where everyone feels safe, valued, and loved, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

"As we participate in Pride events and festivities, let us take the time to listen, learn and support those who advocate for a more inclusive and welcoming community. Together, we can ensure that Peterborough remains a city that values diversity and inclusivity.”
